ABOUT CHILDREN WITH CANCER UK

Children with cancer ukKeeping families together

Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. Almost 4,500 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. Their aims are to determine the causes, find cures and provide care for children with cancer.

Funding research

Children with Cancer UK currently fund more than 60 research projects at centres of excellence around the UK. These projects are investigating a broad range of childhood cancers – helping more children with cancer ring the end of treatment bell and keep their family together.

Through their investment in research, they are taking forward their understanding of childhood cancer, to give new insights into ways of treating young patients with even the most difficult forms of cancer. They are working to drive up the survival rate still further by developing more effective curative therapies with fewer toxic side effects.

Raising awareness

By raising awareness of childhood cancer, Children with Cancer UK can protect more children and improve the lives of young cancer patients – today and for future generations.

They share stories from families affected by childhood cancer, they also have guest blogs written by parents to help families and children affected by childhood cancer. Children with Cancer UK welcome guest bloggers and researchers to share their experiences, so they can provide comfort and support to parents and families.

Helping families

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it can be a frightening experience for the whole family. Treatment normally starts immediately, is often given many miles from home and can last for several years.

At Children with Cancer UK, they fund innovative welfare projects to provide better care and practical support for young cancer patients and their families.
